BMW X7: New pictures tease luxury Range Rover SUV rival
The first pre-production models of the new BMW X7 luxury SUV are taking shape at the brand’s factory in Spartanburg. After the concept made its debut at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show, BMW has confirmed that the proper, production ready SUV will be fully unveiled at the end of 2018.
Khodrocar - The new BMW X7 will be built alongside the X5 and X6 SUVs on the same production line at its plant in South Carolina. And with an ‘end of 2018’ launch expected, it’s fair to speculate that we could see the X7 at the 2018 LA motor show.
But what do the pictures give away?
Quite a bit, actually. The whole front end can be seen in one picture, and you can make out everything from the production-spec LED headlights, wheel designs and even a couple of interior details.
Plenty of you will be disappointed to see that the X7's enormous kidney grille has been carried across from the concept car, while other details exterior are sort of standard BMW fare; chrome bits on the bumper, chunky alloys and integrated exhausts all feature.
What else do we know about the X7?
The X7 is part of a luxury car push by BMW, and is just one part of a larger expansion of its top-end range. It’ll be joined by the likes of the 8-series coupe, for example, and may come under the Bayerische Motoren Werke script.
Any specs
Performance specs aren’t known yet, but the X7 iPerformance concept used a petrol engine mated to a hybrid system. Production-wise, if the X7 were to have a hybrid option, the one already used in the 740e luxury hybrid saloon would make a decent business case.
It’ll have three rows of seats, aiming squarely at the Range Rover and Bentley Bentayga in the luxury SUV stakes.
When will the X7 go on sale?
After its proper debut at the end of 2018, we should expect to see the BMW X7 arrive in the UK in early 2019. Expect full-size Range Rover pricing.
